What does a canine nutritionist do?

A canine nutritionist specialises in understanding how nutrition affects a dog’s physiology, behaviour, digestion, immune function and overall wellbeing. The role is distinct from general feeding advice because it is grounded in research, nutritional science and structured assessment.

Do you create personalised diet plans?

Yes, a personalised diet plan is a structured, evidence‑based feeding strategy designed specifically for an individual dog and not a generic template or one‑size‑fits‑all recommendation. It integrates nutritional science with a holistic understanding of the dog’s daily life, health status and natural needs.

What is wellness?

Wellness is the overall state of a dog’s physical, emotional and behavioural health. It’s not just the absence of illness, it’s how well a dog thrives in everyday life. In canine nutrition and holistic care, wellness means supporting the dog as a whole being, considering how diet, environment, stress, sleep, activity, digestion and natural behaviours all interact.

Can you work with dogs with a diagnosis or who are under vet care?

Yes, nutritionists and vets share a common goal: improving a dog’s health. Collaboration means aligning dietary recommendations with veterinary diagnoses, treatment plans and medical priorities.

However, we cannot diagnose or treat disease. We can only provide nutritional support that complements veterinary care.

How do your services work?

Step 1 - Complete the pre-consultation form.

Step 2 - We will contact you to book your online consultation to discuss your concerns, goals and offer general advice, explore the NutriMoor Plans and suggest the best one to move forward with.

Step 3 - Purchase a plan and we will get to work on creating your bespoke plan within 10 working days of receiving payment.

Step 4 - You will be sent your bespoke plan and receive a follow-up consultation to discuss it and any queries. You will also have a set amount of follow-up emails/messages included to assist when implementing the plan.

Step 5 - If you require additional follow-up support just get in touch to purchase an add-on consultation or email/messages.

What information do I need to provide?

To ensure we can tailor plans suitably we require details about your dog such as the breed, age, weight, health status, medical history, activity levels etc, owner goals and concerns, any veterinary involvement and may also ask for photos / videos of the dog and/or their body condition and stool quality.

What food do you recommend?

At NutriMoor we want to improve your dogs diet as much as possible so we offer a judgement free approach in working with you to explore all the options and select the most suitable type of food for your dog, preferences and budget. We are not affiliated with any particular brands so will only suggest options that suit the individual dog and the owners needs.

How long does it take to see results?

Just like our own health, different aspects of a dog’s health respond at different speeds depending on metabolism, underlying conditions, stress levels, gut health, and the type of dietary adjustments made. Digestive improvements may be seen in days, behaviour and coat improvements may be seen in weeks, whereas allergy and weight improvements may be seen gradually over months. It's worth remembering that some benefits are not visible, but are still having a positive impact.

Are you qualified?

Yes, qualified, experienced and insured. Unfortuantelty, in the UK canine nutritionists are not regulated, so it's important to find to someone suitably educated and experienced.
